Fitness Center News
The Marietta Country Club Fitness Center is open and ready for your use!  Each eligible member who would like to use the Fitness Center must register down at the Tennis Center prior to their first workout. This quick process will get you familiar with the rules, give you thumbprint-access to the center (including after-hours access), and help you get started with your program, either through a MCC authorized Fitness Trainer, or by just getting on the machines yourselves.  Staff is available to help you become familiar with the machines, so be sure to ask!

The Fitness Center has a nice variety of state-of-the-art machines for cardio, flexibility, and
strength-based training.  Here is a list of the machines available, and the workouts they are
set up to help deliver.

 CARDIO MACHINES

· Treadmills (3) – treadmills will have touchscreen controls, allowing you to vary the incline and speed of your run or walk.  Various workouts are programmed into the machine, if you choose, or you can set the clock, set the speed, and just go.  The touch screens also have a built in television, so bring your earphones to enjoy whatever station you prefer.

· Elliptical (2) – elliptical machines help with a full-body workout since both the legs and the arms are involved. Like the Treadmills, the elliptical machines will have touchscreen controls, the availability of pre-programmed workouts and built in TV's.

· Hybrid Bikes (2) – the hybrid bikes allow for the seating position of a conventional bike, but with the comfort of a recumbent bike. The seat is comfortable, there are touch screen controls with a built-in TV and there are pre-programmed workouts available.

** Note-the cardio machines listed above also have built-in heart rate monitors.

· Spin Bike (1) – the spin bike is set up for the serious biker who may want to clip in their own shoes and pedals. The adjustable seat height and road bike geometry make this bike a great tool for days when you can't get outdoors to ride.

WEIGHT MACHINES

· Abs-Lower Back – working out your stomach and back without lying on the floor is possible with the Abs-Lower Back machine. Stacked weights make changing the resistance both easy and safe to do.

· Functional Trainer – work out almost any part of the body with this versatile pulley-based machine. Components such as the golf club attachment are easily added so that you can replicate your sports swing, gaining strength throughout the entire range of motion.

· Lat Pull down/Lat Row – working out with the lat pull down/row machine will help develop strength in various muscles of the back. The stacked weights make changing resistance both easy and safe to do.

· Multi-Press – the multi-press machines allows someone to train various muscles of the chest, shoulders, and triceps. Resistance is also via stacked weights.

· Dumbbell Weights – a vertical rack of dumbell weights from 2.5 lbs to 50 lbs are available to use on the preacher curl bench, the adjustable bench, or independently with exercises tailored for various muscle groups.

· Core Machine – this is a unique machine that helps core strength, balance, and blood flow through high-intensity vibration.

· Vertical Knee Raise – the vertical knee raise is another machine set up to help develop the core stomach muscles that help you move and play more efficiently.
